Major General Monday Ogbe Ihanuwaze is a distinguished military officer and an exceptional financial expert, renowned for his astute leadership and strategic prowess. He assumed command of the Nigerian Army of School of Finance and Administration (NASFA) on 8 September 2025 as the 38th Commandant. He hails from Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State. He was granted Direct Regular Commission into the Nigerian Army on 25 September 1993 as a Lieutenant and thereafter posted to the Nigerian Army Finance Corps (NAFC). He has made invaluable contributions to the development and advancement of the Corps and the Nigerian Army at large.

From his commission into the Nigerian Army, Major General Ihanuwaze has demonstrated remarkable accomplishments through leadership roles in various commands and formations. His posting history includes Commander Division Finance and Accounts (CDFA) in Headquarters 81 Division, Executive Director Finance and Administration at the Nigerian Army Welfare Limited by Guarantee (NAWL/G) and Director of Finance at Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Oshodi. He was also the Deputy Commandant/Director of Studies/Chief of Staff at NASFA. Other appointments held by the senior officer include Acting Director at the Directorate of Audit and Financial Management (DAFM) in the Office of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Acting Director General at the Bureau of Army Financial Management and Audit (BAFMA) in the Office of the COAS. He was also the Director of Budget at the Nigerian Army Budget office amongst several other appointments. Before his posting to NASFA, he was the Director General, Nigerian Army Finance Corporation (NAFIC). The senior officer was a distinguish member of Directing Staff (DS) and Chief Instructor (CI) at the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM).

General Monday's educational journey showcases his commitment to continuous learning. In addition to his Bachelor's Degree, he holds 3 Masters Degrees in Banking and Finance, International Business Studies and Business Administration. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in International Finance.

To enhance his military prowess, Major General Monday Ihanuwaze has successfully completed a range of military courses. These include the Young Officers Course (Finance) at NASFA Apapa Lagos, Young Officers Course (Infantry) at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry Jaji, Cashiers Course at NASFA, Computer Appreciation Course at NASFA, Commander Division Finance and Accounts Course at NASFA Logistics Staff Course at NACOLMS and the Senior Executive Management Course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) amongst several other local and international conferences, seminars and workshops.

It is pertinent to note that the senior officer distinguished himself academically, emerging as the overall best in the Young Officers' Course (Finance), Computer Programmers' Course, Cashiers' Course, Commander Division Finance and Accounts Course and the Logistics Staff Course. He was also adjudged the best in the Commandant's Paper in both the Logistics Staff Course, Commander Division Finance and Accounts Course as well as Executive Management Course at NIPSS.

His professional affiliations include membership and fellowship in esteemed institutions such as Fellow Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigerian, Fellow Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigerian, Fellow Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria, Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. He is a certified forensic accountant both from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the American Institute of Certified Professional Forensic Accountants. He is also a certified Chartered Financial Analyst.

Major General Monday Ihanuwaze's dedication to duty and excellence has resulted in him been awarded various decorations and awards which includes, Grand Service Star, Pass Logistics Staff College (Dagger) and Field Command Medal. He is also a recipient of the Chief of Army Staff commendation award.

He has represented the Nigerian Army and the NAFC at various high-stake meetings where high level policy decisions are generated. Major General Monday Ihanuwaze is happily married and the union is blessed with children. At his leisure, he enjoys reading, walking, watching football and golfing.
